What are fields in SparrowCRM?
Fields are the properties that capture details about a record.
Each field stores one specific piece of information. On a contact record, fields hold things like email, job title, and phone number. On a deal record, fields hold things like deal value, stage, and close date.
Fields make records searchable, sortable, and useful.
Types of fields
SparrowCRM populates fields in different ways depending on the type of field. Every field on every record belongs to one of the categories below.
External Enriched fields Populated from third-party data providers based on identifiers like email address or company domain. Adds information about contacts and companies that would otherwise need manual entry.
AI-Enriched fields Generated by Zulie by analyzing CRM activity, including emails, calls, meetings, transcripts, and engagement patterns.
Behavioural fields Populated based on interactions such as emails, calls, meetings, and other recorded activities. Update every time a new interaction happens.
Calculated fields Derived from related records and activity data, such as deal values, response rates, and time-based metrics. Update automatically as underlying data changes.
System fields Managed by SparrowCRM to store core identity and audit information such as who created a record and when it was last updated. Non-editable.
Custom fields Created by the team to capture information specific to the business. Available on every standard object and every custom object.

Objects, Records, and Fields
Fields work together with objects and records to structure the CRM.
Term | Description | Examples |
|---|---|---|
Object | A category that groups similar records together. | Contacts, Companies, Deals |
Record | An individual item stored within an object. | John Smith, Acme Corp, Enterprise Renewal Deal |
Field | A property that captures and stores details about a record. | Email, Job Title, Deal Value, Fit Score |
Example
If a contact record for John Smith exists in the CRM:
Type | Example |
|---|---|
Object | Contacts |
Record | John Smith |
Fields | Email: [email protected], Job Title: VP Sales, Fit Score: 92 |
The hierarchy looks like this:
Objects contain records, and records contain fields.
Understanding how fields work is key to structuring data, building filters, and getting value out of every part of SparrowCRM. As the business grows, fields are what make records searchable, reports meaningful, and automations reliable.
